The Reasons President Obama keep distancing himself from Clinton's Email Scandal

Recent emails were discovered during an unrelated investigation involving former Rep. Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of a close Clinton aide.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said that he would “neither defend nor criticize” FBI Director James Comey’s disclosures of the new Hillary Clinton email developments.
Earnest did reiterate that President Barack Obama thinks Comey is a man of “integrity” who didn’t do anything to “intentionally” influence the impending election when he offered Congress sketchy details about a new line of inquiry into the scandal over Clinton’s use of a private email server at the State Department.
Throughout his years in office, Obama preached strict adherence to judicial independence, making it impossible to defend Clinton against criticism on the handling of official emails.

While Comey’s letter is unclear what the emails would show or whether they'd be significant, leaving voters at a loss to know whether they should rethink their choice for president. Though investigators are rushing to review the emails, it's uncertain if the investigation will wrap up before Election Day.
Democrats thinks  Obama's hands-off approach to the FBI forms a powerful contrast to Donald Trump, whose insistence that Clinton should be in prison seems to skip a few steps of due process, therefore Josh Earnest was left to explain how Obama could be silent about an explosive issue. They want an answer why Obama is keeping a  distance as an internal government spat bursts into public view.
