Diego Maradona to Lionel Messi "please don't leave"

Messi the 29-year-old multiple trophy winner with Barcelona bent down to adjust the ball and backed up to get a running start ,surprisingly  the five-time FIFA Ballon d'Or winner sent a cannonball like shot over the goal, missing for Argentina when it mattered most resulting in a devastated  Sunday night 4-2 loss to Chile .After losing three previous Copa America finals, Lionel Messi on Sunday night thinks it's time to quit

The BBC quoted  Messi as saying:" 'For me, the national team is over,' “I tried so hard to be champion with Argentina. Now I am leaving without having managed it,” he said at the tournament hosted by the United States to mark the centenary of South America’s flagship competition.
Aside from an Olympic gold in 2008, Messi has never been able to bring home a major international championship playing for his home country.  

The legendary Diego Maradona and  other leading personalities reached out in support of Messi, Maradona pleaded with messi not to abandon the national team. Himself a former captain of Argentina in the their second World Cup triumph in 1986.

Fans also was seen displaying banners at the airport  reading  “Without you we’re nothing, don’t go Messi” and “Stay Messi, you’re the best”.

President Mauricio Macri,himself a former chairman of Boca Juniors who was pictured watching Sunday’s match wearing an Argentina shirt, joined in the show of support for Messi with a message on Twitter urging the star to reconsider his decision to quit the national team.
