Russian Ambassador to Turkey killed in Ankara Terrorist Attack

Russia’s ambassador to Turkey Andrey G. Karlov was shot from behind while speaking at an exhibition, according to the Press at the Contemporary Arts Center in the Cankaya area of Ankara.

The envoy and at least four others were shot by a lone gunman at an art center in Ankara, the Turkish capital on Monday evening. The envoy died in the terrorist attack, according to Russia’s Foreign Ministry.

DA Money News confirmed from Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova confirmed that Mr. Karlov died from his wounds in what she described as a terrorist attack.
Saying “the ambassador fell to the floor immediately and that the gunman was killed following a shootout with the Turkish Special Forces police”.

Andrey G. Karlov, according to a biography on the Russian Embassy’s website started his career as a diplomat in 1976, working in North Korea over two decades, before moving to turkey in 2007, He became ambassador in July 2013.

Recently in turkey there has been an increase in protests over Russia’s role in the Syrian war.The Russian and Turkish governments,have been collaborating in efforts to evacuate civilians from the ravaged city of Aleppo.although both  back different sides in the conflict.
