Fans threw objects at Manchester City's team bus before their Champions League quarter-final first leg at Anfield prompting UEFA to open disciplinary proceedings against Liverpool.
The disturbing scenes occurred before their 3-0 encounter which was won by the reds in the first leg of the Champions League quarter final played at Anfield.
According to source City's bus was struck with projectiles as they made their way to the pitch.

Two officers were also reported to be injured in the incident according to Merseyside Police, who confirmed the incident.
Before the match, Merseyside Police said they issued a statement saying the two team coaches would "not be taking their usual route" because of "building works and to ensure the safety of fans".

The charge brought against Liverpool by the  European soccer's governing body include throwing of  fireworks, objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbances the case will be dealt with by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 31.
Beforehand Liverpool shared a statement asking their supporters "to gather to show their passion and support for the team in a friendly, respectful and considerate manner".

And the home fans organized a welcome for both teams, lining the street where both team buses were to be arriving before the incident.
Police statement released said the force would do "everything in our power" to find the people responsible as they review CCTV and officers' body-camera footage.
"We know many people were filming the events with camera phones and ask that anyone with any footage of the projectiles being thrown send it to a dedicated email address so that it can be reviewed: team.coach.incident@merseyside.police.uk"  the force spokesperson said .

Some pundits and supporters feel the incident had an effect on the Premier League Champions-elect. City's performance wasn't up to par with their unbelievable form in England's top division.
